A calm and quiet Sunday morning -- three hard working farmers, two of Hawaiian descent and one Japanese, take a walk in the forest, talk story about their families, their crops, and the homeland -- a routine that they have been doing for quite some time. However, this is no ordinary Sunday, for this is a day that will live in infamy: December 7, 1941.
The events of that morning change their lives forever, and reveal the stupidity that follows any war.
Based on the little-known fact that there were significant local Hawaiian casualties before the attack on Pearl Harbor ever began, SUNDAY WIND examines our assumptions about race and justice - not just as they existed at the beginning of World War II, but as they continue to plague us today.
SUNDAY WIND stars Ray Bumatai, Shiro Kawai, and Troy Ignacio. It was Ray Bumatai's last film. |
